JKSSB Naib Tehsildar Recruitment: New Eligibility Criteria and Latest Updates Released by Govt
With the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) is expected to soon release recruitment notifications for coveted Naib Tehsildar (NT) posts, confusion has arisen among aspirants regarding the latest eligibility criteria.
The uncertainty stemmed from the absence of clear information related to Urdu language proficiency, a requirement that was previously mandatory for the position.
To address this concern, an aspirant proactively filed a grievance with the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s Grievance Cell, seeking clarification on the matter.
In response, the Grievance Cell, after consulting with the Revenue Department, conveyed that the existing recruitment rules for the post of NT remain unchanged. As per these rules, a graduation degree in any discipline coupled with “working knowledge of Urdu” is still required for aspiring candidates.
The clarification provided by the Grievance Cell brings much-needed relief to Urdu-speaking applicants who were worried about losing out on the chance to apply. However, it also raises concerns for non-Urdu speakers who may feel disadvantaged by this language requirement.
The debate surrounding the necessity of Urdu proficiency for government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir is likely to continue, with proponents highlighting its administrative importance and opponents advocating for inclusivity and meritocratic selection processes.
